Annual Golf Outing Tops Last Year for Habitat
Volunteers Honored at Humanitarian Awards Ceremony
The 12th Annual Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area Golf Outing sponsored by MI Windows and Doors and Netrepid, was held recently at the beautiful Hershey Links Golf Course. Wonderful weather greeted the golfers as they hit the links to raise funds for Habitat. At the end of the day, more than $93,000 was generated to help Habitat for Humanity’s work to end poverty housing here in Central PA. The total amount raised was up more than $20,000 from last year’s event.
“We decided to add an afternoon event this year and it proved to be very successful for us as some local businesses really came out to support us,” said Habitat’s Director of Development, Mark Mattern. “MI Windows and Doors has been a major force for this event from the start. The addition of Netrepid to assist with the afternoon allowed us to raise even more money to fight poverty housing here in Central PA.”

MI Windows and Doors, a major player in the window industry and located in Gratz, Dauphin County, has been a part of the outing for 12 years. The company has raised more than 1.2 million dollars for Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area.
Although Netrepid joined theHabitat for Humanity Golf Outing forthe first time this year, it’s not the first time they have supported the work of the non-profit. Netrepid is located in Enola, and specializes in business and residential technology solutions and has been a supporter of Habitat for several years.
Habitat also held its Fifth Annual Humanitarian Awards ceremony as part of the day’s festivities. This ceremony is held each year so the local Habitat can acknowledge the work done by top volunteers, organizations and companies here in Central PA.
This year’s top honor in the Humanitarian Awards ceremony went to long-time volunteer Eric Batholomew. Eric has been quite active in supporting youth and young adult activities associated with Habitat for Humanity. Bartholomew was presented with the Chuck Dorsey Award, named after a former Executive Director and chairman of the Board of the Harrisburg Habitat.
Local M&T Bank Senior Branch Manager, Tracy Miller received the Christine Guss Golden Heart Award. The award was created to honor work done in Harrisburg by Chris Guss, a former employee who began several initiatives including the Women Build. Tracy has been involved in several events with Habitat including working on this year’s Golf Outing.
