D&H Cares Spearheads New Construction

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area has announced that a new home construction will take place this summer thanks to D&H Cares.  D&H Cares will help Habitat for Humanity with the build with the help of Cisco Systems and D&H Distributing of Harrisburg.  The new home will be on Woodbine Street in the Uptown Area of Harrisburg. The build will be a part of Habitat’s Energy Efficient Affordable Home Neighborhood in Uptown and will be one of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area’s first Energy Star homes

D&H Cares entered into an agreement with Habitat which will both supply construction funding for the project, as well as commit volunteers to help build the new home. The new Habitat for Humanity home will be just a few blocks away from the D&H Distributing center located on Seventh Street.  Officials with D&H Cares expect many of its workers to volunteer for this special project.

“It is a total commitment from D&H Cares to be involved in this project,” said Habitat for Humanity Executive Director, Eve Wachhaus.  “This project also allows us to move into a new area in uptown Harrisburg.  Everyone from D&H Cares sees this as a special undertaking for them as this build will be right in their ownneighborhood.”

“We’re proud of the many co-owners who have been involved in the D&H Cares program and how graciously they’ve responded to causes in our community.  This new Habitat for Humanity build is a terrific example of how we can work together to help make a local impact,” said Jeff Davis, senior vice president of sales at D&H and one of the founders of D&H Cares.  “I’m confident our employees will embrace this project whole-heartedly.”
