Brite3 Golf Outing Benefits Habitat

The 13th annual event to honor Matthew Brightbill supports the

elimination of poverty housing in Central PA

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area was a beneficiary of this year’s Brite3 Memorial Golf Outing held on Friday, May 29th, at Mayapple Golf Links in Carlisle, PA.  The 13th annual event donated $500 to Habitat for use on building projects here in Central Pennsylvania.

The Brite3 event was started following the death of Matthew D. Brightbill for the sole purpose of honoring Matt and raising money for a scholarship as well as providing funds for several worthwhile ventures.

Bill Brightbill, Matt’s father, began the event 13 years ago and it is now run by five of Matt’s close friends. The outing has raised more than $500,000 in its first dozen years.  Habitat for Humanity received the donation from this year’s proceeds.

Penn State University, the Ritter Foundation and the HomeTeam Foundation have been instrumental in the tournament’s success.  Through the group’s efforts, a scholarship in “Structural Design and Construction Engineering Technology” has been created in Matt Brightbill’s honor at Penn State University, Harrisburg.
