Yo Gabba Gabba! Hits Hershey Theatre, Helps Habitat for Humanity
Shows scheduled for early October
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area will welcome the family-friendly “YO GABBA GABBA! LIVE!: THERE’S A PARTY IN MY CITY!” tour to Hershey Theatre for two shows on October 5, 2010. Show times that day will be 3:00 and 6:30 P.M. Tickets are on sale now at hersheytheatre.com. For each ticket sold, Habitat for Humanity will receive a $1.00 donation.

Earlier this year, a tour partnership was agreed upon to help Habitat for Humanity raise awareness of its mission and help raise funds. Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area, along with the Hershey Company and KISS 99.3 FM, have been running publicity events to help promote these upcoming shows. At a recent groundbreaking ceremony, staff from the Hershey Theatre and KISS FM were on hand with cutouts and coloring books of the Yo Gabba, Gabba characters. Tickets to the special show were also given away in a raffle drawing of all the youngsters at the event, courtesy of the radio station.
The Hershey Theatre and the Yo Gabba Gabba tour will also be donating tickets for Habitat for Humanity to use for partner families. These families will be present prior to the show help answer any questions about Habitat for Humanity and then enjoy the program as guests of the theatre. Staff members from the local Habitat will also be on site for both programs to provide information.
The local Habitat for Humanity affiliate will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in the community next year and staff feels that this kind of event helps to make people aware of the non-profit’s mission.
“We look at this as a great opportunity to get the word out about Habitat for Humanity,” said Director of Development, Mark Mattern. “It really boils down to the kids. This program will really appeal to the children and thanks to Hershey Theatre, we will be able to bring some of our Habitat for Humanity homeowner families with us that day.”
This nation-wide tour is expected to benefit more than 60 Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the nation.
