Habitat Leader, Wachhaus, selected as Mover and Shaper
Harrisburg Magazine makes annual selections
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area announced this week that the organization’s Executive Director, Eve Wachhaus, has been selected as one of the Harrisburg area’s top individuals who move and shape our region. That recognition is part of an article in the October issue of Harrisburg Magazine.

In the article, which includes 14 individuals deemed as movers and shapers, Wachhaus is lauded for her work in developing a successful home repair program here in the Harrisburg region. Along with the work the localHabitat does with new builds, Wachhaus points out that making critical repairs will keep homes up to code and keep families from becoming homeless.
Wachhaus feels the recognition from the magazine is not necessarily warranted, but will accept the attention.
“We are continually fighting to get the word out about Habitat for Humanity and the wonderful work we do,” said Wachhaus after appearing in the monthly publication. “I am just a small piece of this amazing puzzle of about 3,000 volunteers who are all after the same goal of eliminating poverty housing in this area. If this honor helps us reach that goal, I appreciate the recognition.” An outstanding array of individuals and organizations are included on the list.
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical ministry that welcomes all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. Since its inception in 1986, the Harrisburg area affiliate has built nearly 60 houses, built 87 homes internationally and completed over 150 Home Repairs by providing simple, decent and affordable shelter with families in need. Last year, Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area had closings on three new homes and completed eight repair projects.
