Habitat Yard Sale-How Did We Do?
Results may not be in for a while
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area teamed up with other non-profits to participate in a Yard Sale on this past Saturday. Habitat joined forces with CONTACT Helpline and Harrisburg’s Crop Walk in the event which drew hundreds of shoppers on a perfect late summer day.
“We had a lot of fun and met some great people,” said Mark Mattern, Director of Development for Habitat for Humanity. “There was a steady steam of visitors throughout the day, but we will not know how we did for a while. We were unable to bring all of our items to the yard sale, so we made a lot of appointments to meet with people over the next few weeks. We will let them see what we have and they might buy some things later.”
Large items, such as complete kitchens, were not available at the Yard Sale. These items are available for inspection at Habitat’s future headquarters Building on 13th Street in Harrisburg. To set up an appointment to see various items, contact the Habitat for Humanity office at 238-9239.
The Yard Sale took place in the grass areas surrounding the PA United Church Center Building on South Arlington Avenue. All proceeds from the event will go to the three non-profit organizations involved. For more information call Habitat for Humanity at 545-7299, CONTACT Helpline at 652-4987 or Crop Walk at 909-9038.
