Erie Insurance Makes Donation to Habitat

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area announced that the local branch for Erie Insurance has made a donation of $1,000 to the non-profit’s operating funds.  Erie Insurance has been a long standing supporter of Habitat for Humanity and is very supportive of the programs and services provided by the organization.

 “It is with that spirit that we are pleased to make a contribution on behalf of our employees in the Harrisburg Branch office,” said Douglas Fitzgerald, Vice-President and Branch Manager, Harrisburg Branch/Erie Insurance. Through Erie Insurance’s Giving Network, a combined donation of $110,000 is being made to several non-profits in the Harrisburg area.  Following the donation, Fitzgerald also shared that all local employees will be encouraged to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and with other agencies in the upcoming year. 

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area is an ecumenical ministry that welcomes all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. Through volunteer labor and tax deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds new homes, rehabs and repairs homes and provides educational workshops.

Homes are sold to partner families at no profit and with no-interest mortgages.  Since its inception in 1986, the Harrisburg area affiliate has built more than 65 houses and repaired close to 200 homes in the Harrisburg, PA area providing simple, decent and affordable homes for families in need.
