Habitat to Participate in Community Yard Sale
Will join other non-profits in the one-day event
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area will team up with other non-profits and participate in a Yard Sale on Saturday, August 28th at the PA United Church Center, 900 Arlington Avenue in Harrisburg. Habitat will join forces with CONTACT Helpline and Harrisburg’s Crop Walk in the event which will run from 8:00 A.M. until late afternoon.
“A yard sale of items we have in storage has been talked about for a couple of years,” said Habitat for Humanity Construction Manager John Neumann. “When the other groups came to us and asked us to join in, we jumped at the chance. We will have all kinds of construction items at the yard sale. Windows, fixtures, vanities, maybe even a kitchen sink. If you need something for around the house, we will probably have it at the yard sale.”
CONTACT’s Cathy Haynes, organizer of the event, says that CONTACT and Crop Walk will offer the more traditional yard sale items and all three groups will lean on volunteers to make the day a success.
“Volunteers are essential to all three of our organizations and this will be a fun way for our volunteers to interact with the community they serve. In addition to donating items for the sale, we all look forward to our volunteers to participate as helpers and shoppers the day of the event,”
said Haynes.
The Yard sale will take place in the grass areas surrounding the PA United Church Center Building, so there will be plenty of parking for those stopping by for the yard sale. All proceeds will go to the three non-profit organizations involved. For more information call Habitat for Humanity at 545-7299, CONTACT Helpline at 652-4987 or Crop Walk at 909-9038.
