Habitat Art Auction Show Set, Troegs Sampling Added to Line-up

For the first time in the six year run of the auction, the entire show can be viewed online.

The Sixth Annual “One-of-a-Kind” Juried Art Auction will be held at the Hershey Country Club, March 4, 2011.  Habitat for Humanity welcomes back M&T Bank as our major sponsor. The yearly event is an exciting way for artists, art collectors, community leaders and area residents to learn more about working artists in the greater Harrisburg area. Fifty-seven one-of-a-kind artworks have been juried into this year’s show.

Proceeds will go toward supporting Habitat for Humanity’s mission of eliminating poverty housing in Harrisburg.

“It is encouraging, in these tough economic times, to see our community rally around this local event,” said Eve Wachhaus, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area. “Those attending this year’s auction will be able to view, prior to auction day, all the available art online for the first time!”

The first five auctions raised over $85,000 and allowed five deserving families to move into their new own homes.  The auction proceeds provided funding for five rehabs (Artist Builds) in Harrisburg.  The proceeds from this year’s auction will help fund a new construction project in our area.

This year’s event will feature music during the Meet the Artist Reception beginning at 6:00 P.M.   Local restaurants and caterers will also be making generous donations for this special event. Habitat will welcome Troegs Brewery to the reception as a sampling of Troegs products will be added to the event.

Dave Cordier of Cordier Antiques & Auctions in Camp Hill has agreed to donate his live auction services for the event.  More information is available at www.cordierantiques.com. ABC 27 newscaster Dennis Owens will be featured as a guest auctioneer during the auction's first half hour.
