RE: Habitat Home Dedication |
Date: June 4, 2010 |
New Family Moves into a “New” Home
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area will dedicate a new home in Allison Hill section of Harrisburg next Friday. The dedication ceremony will take place on June 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the home located at 33 North 12th Street in Harrisburg.
The home dedication will feature members of the Toni Spruill family as they begin life in their new property. The Spruill family contributed more than 350 sweat equity hours toward the completion of the home. This home is known as a “Rehab Project” to Habitat as the non-profit acquired the property recently and made the necessary changes to make it like-new for the Spruill family.
“This will be a joyous day for the Spruill family, who have worked very hard to make this happen,” said Habitat Family Support Director Antron Watson. “Toni and her family now have a safe, affordable home in which to live and the entire community continues to feel the effects of Habitat’s work toward eliminating poverty housing.”
Spruill and her four children make up a partner family with Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area. The new home has five bedrooms and has just over 1,800 square feet in living space and through Habitat for Humanity, Spruill will also have a no-interest loan on the property.
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area is an ecumenical ministry that welcomes all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. Through volunteer labor, tax deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds new homes, rehabs and repairs homes and provides educational workshops.
