WHAT'S NEW-NEW HOME FOR FAMILIES

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF THE GREATER HARRISBURG AREA BEGINS WORK ON “A Home for Habitat”

On Wednesday October 29, 2003 Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area launched it’s Capital Campaign entitled “A Home for Habitat”.  The kick-off event featured Habitat acquiring an abandoned warehouse at 100 North 13th Street in Harrisburg which was donated by the City of Harrisburg.  This property will provide much needed office space for the Habitat headquarters, a place for staff and volunteers to converge and work toward a common goal.   In addition, the property will house a resale store, featuring new and used construction materials donated by area individuals and businesses.  The ReStore, as it is called, will provide ongoing income to ensure future home building for those in need in the Harrisburg area.  With Phase I of this campaign completed, we are ready to stat rehabbing the building.  We are excited to finally be able to realize the dream of our “new home”.  With increases in costs, we welcome additional gifting.  Phase II of the Capital Campaign is now underway.  Please contact Christine Guss at 545-7299 or cguss@paonline.com to show your support.
